Luka, like his brother Mario, played in NK Solin's and RNK Split's academies before joining Hajduk. In a youth tournament in Prague 2017, he was the top scorer of the tourney with 6 goals. He played his first official youth season with Hajduk U15 this past year.
He mainly plays as a defensive midfielder but can also fill the role of a centre-back due to his physique. His height is extremely impressive for his age, standing in at 193 cm at 14-years-old.
Prva HNL U15 (2020/21) - 26 games / 7 goals
Luka is technically very skilled & intelligent as a player, possesing a wide passing range. Often drops back between the two CB's & takes out the ball out of defence. Despite playing vs. players almost 2 yr's older than him, he dominates players in shoulder-2-shoulder duels.
Shouldn't even have to mention that he's a big threat in set pieces and aerial duels. Despite his height, he's still a very good dribbler, doing simple body feints effectively but of course his agility is not gonna be top notch. Very hard to get the ball of him.
He's also a Croatia international, recently playing in the U15 'Vlatko Marković' tournament in Karlovac where he started every game up until the final. He scored one of the winning penalties for Croatia to lift the trophy against Russia U15.
He turned just 14yo in Feb. of this year & he already looks like he's outgrown the U15s and is ready for the next step. Would be crazy to see a 14-year-old playing against the U17s but seeing his physique, it wouldn't be that much of a difference. We'll see what's next for him.
Mario Vušković: "Five years younger brother Luka is a great talent, he will be the best Vušković I am convinced. The rest of us were centre-backs, he is the only defensive midfielder and he has a great future ahead of him."
